Course:Health Science 1

This first year class in a two year program can be two or three periods. Health Science 1 students learn about various careers in the Health Care field such as Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Medical Assisting and more. Students have the opportunity to earn dual credit with Ivy Tech Community College. Students will also have many job shadowing opportunities at area hospitals, nursing homes, and doctor's offices.

This is the second year in the two year program in which students will have classroom instruction, followed by clinical rotations in various health care settings at area hospitals, long term care facilities, Dr. offices and other similar facilities. Students will become members of HOSA and become CPR certified. Students also have the option to earn their CNA certification which will also earn them dual credit with Ivy Tech Community College.
Course: Medical Terminology

Medical Terminololgy prepares students with language skills necessary for effective, independent use of health and medical reference materials. It includes the study of health and medical abbreviations, symbols, and Greek and Latin word meanings. This course builds skills in pronouncing, spelling, and defining new words encountered in verbal or written information. This course is eligible for dual credit with Ivy Tech Community College. This course is a Core 40 directed elective as part of a technical career area.
